My Halloween Experience! 🎃

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! Even though It´s very eerie and I´m one to get nightmares easily, I still love all the activities and scares involved.

This past Halloween I couldn´t do much because of COVID-19. My family and I had to find alternative activities to do. We still got to eat food at my grandparent´s house though. We stayed till late at night and told true stories by the campfire. We were very vigilant and wary though. There was a lot of creepy, rustling noise all around us.

Before all that, we were watching movies at home in our costumes. My sister and I were dressed very diverse. Mine had lots of different attributes to it. I wore a black ace of spades costume. It consisted of an ace of spades shirt, black tutu, and black converse. My sister just wore a medieval dress and a small crown. Her costume did look very exotic though.

Even though it was Halloween, we didn´t watch a scary movie. We typically just watch Halloween Town or Hocus Pocus. They´re  great non-scary movies (for people who get nightmares like me). They have lots of intrepid characters which makes it really enjoyable.

This past year wasn´t what we imagined for all of our favorite holidays. Halloween was still amazing as usual, even if we couldn´t go out.

My Favorite Animal!

My favorite animal is an elephant! I´ve been in love with elephants ever since I was little. They´re beautiful and exotic creatures. There is so many things I love about elephants I don’t even know where to begin.

One of the things I love elephants is the way they look. They are majestic with their two long tusks right beside their most famous feature, their trunk. They use their tusks to pry bark off trees or dig. They use their trunks mainly for getting food but also for breathing, smelling, and drinking. Elephants also have HUGE ears to keep their body cool just like humans use sweat to keep us cool. You might think that elephants are sleek, but they actually have hair all over their body. Their hair also keeps them cool just like their ears.

Elephants sound like a loud trumpet that can be heard from up to six miles away. This can signal excitement, aggression, and distress. Elephants also use soft rumbling to communicate with each other or scare off predators.

Elephants are the exact opposite of nimble. They have limits to what they can and cannot do. For starters, they cannot trot, gallop, jump, hurtle. They do walk at a fast gait, similar to running, but not the same. Elephants mostly sleep standing up, but they lay prostrate every third or fourth day.

Most of the time elephants are peaceful animals. Females can be aggressive when young calves are around, but all elephants are aggressive when sick, injured, or harassed. Even though they only sleep four to five hours, they socialize, play, and show affection by their trunks. Elephants are very intelligent animals. Some elephants can even paint, though most of their artworks are just mottled colors mixed together. Menagerie animals can become aggressive so imagine a big elephant in a zoo, becoming depressed, unhealthy, and sad. Elephants behave much better when they are free in they wild!

This might come as a shock, but elephants don’t like peanuts. Most people think elephants love peanuts, but that’s all a myth. Circus lovers used to feed elephants peanuts that they would buy at the circus. Elephants mainly eat roots, grass, fruit, and bark. Elephants can eat precisely 300 pounds of food each day.

There are so many different things that make me love elephants. They are more unique than any other animal in the world which makes me love them even more.

My Big 3

I have many random things in my backpack. Some of them are school related and some not. Today I will be sharing three objects that I have in my backpack!

One thing that I have in my backpack is gum wrapper. I have lots of gum wrappers in my backpack because I am to lazy to throw them away. The wrapper is a tin foil color with EXTRA printed on the back. The sides have ridges and there are creases all through out the wrapper. It smells of peppermint gum. This wrapper is great for having a place to put your old gum if there is no trashcan nearby.

The second thing that I have in my backpack is a Halloween bat spider ring. Our teacher was giving these out on Halloween and I forgot to take it out. It’s this bright neon color with a bat right in the middle. This ring is very stylish and can be worn any day of the year.

The last thing that I have in my backpack is four bobby pins. I can’t believe these were in my bag. I’m always looking for bobby pins. They are this shiny bronze color. Some of them have ridges to keep your hair in place and some of them have a slight curve. I’m so glad I found these because they are great for keeping your hair back or putting those stray pieces in their rightful spot.

I have some random things in my bag! It’s fun, though, to go through your backpack and see what junk you have collected. I should probably go through my backpack more often just to make sure I don’t have any mice hiding in the small spots in my bag. Lesson learned, you should look through your bag every once in a while before your bag becomes a dumpster!

Last Chapter of the Giver. My Version!

I woke up to the sound of rain, but something seemed different. There was a noise, a loud noise. I couldn’t identify exactly what the noise was but it woke up Gabe. I knew it had to be something bad if it woke him up. Gabriel could sleep through anything. He was like a bear hibernating in the winter.

I didn’t know what the noise was, let alone where it was coming from. I knew if I stayed to long the noise would come and get us so I rushed to gather mine and Gabriel’s things an get ready to start biking again. I soaked my ankle in the cold water from the waterfall where we had slept this morning. I stood up and slightly shook my foot to dry it off. That is when I saw it. I saw what the noise was.

I quickly grabbed Gabe and searched to find a spot to hide. I found a large rock behind the waterfall and ducked down behind it. I set down Gabe and the few things we had left. I rushed to our bike and threw it in a bush hoping the noise didn’t see or hear me.

I then rushed back to the rock, ducked down beside Gabriel, and tried to slow down my breathing. I hoped I moved us just in time before the Chief Elder’s hologram spotted me and Gabe. I remembered the scientists were working on a new product for the Elders to use in case something like this happened.

They must have finished the product early because the Chief Elder was hear, looking for me. We must have sat there for a long time. Gabriel’s eyes drifted of to sleep but I kept mine wide open in case we needed to move locations.

The only thing the Chief had found was our bike. The Chief Elder took the bike with her and didn’t even think to look behind the waterfall. The hologram eventually disappeared. I stood up trying to think of a way to get to Elsewhere without a bike. “I guess we will just have to go on foot,” I whispered to Gabe.

Days later or maybe months. I had been walking so long I didn’t even know the days. Gabriel happily ran beside me as I searched for Elsewhere. Many more days passed. The weather changed, animals came after us, there was one point when I had to climb a tree with Gabe in my hands to seek protection. After walking for so long I though we would never find Elsewhere. But that was when I saw it. A light coming from the distance.

Not from the sun. A much brighter light was shining. I picked Gabe up and ran like I had never ran before. I ran like a cheetah in an open field. As I reached the light I had to cover mine and Gabriel’s eyes fearing the light might blind us. With Gabe in my hands I slowly walked through, into the light.

As I uncovered my eyes I was surprised, but not a good surprise. I saw the Chief Elder standing before me in a empty white room. “Nice try Jonas,” she smirked.

What is Red Ribbon Week?

What is Red Ribbon Week? One week out of the school year my school does something special to encourage students to be drug free.

Each years my school devotes one week as Red Ribbon Week or drug free week. This one week out of the year they are encouraging you to be drug free. They are encouraging you because they are trying to stop you from doing drugs at an early age so when you become an adult you won’t have any problems with your health.

On Red Ribbon Week everyday has a different theme. Each day the theme has a catchy saying and you dress up for that day. You don’t have to dress up but I like to because it’s just so much fun. This week is Red Ribbon Week at our school and today’s theme was team up against drugs. You were supposed to wear a jersey.

Red Ribbon Week is to encourage you from using drugs. If your school doesn’t have Red Ribbon Week maybe you should do something about that. Talk to your principal and convince them to make a week all about being drug free!
